Former Holland mayor now serving area residents in new capacity

State Rep. Nancy DeBoer (R-Holland) was sworn into office on the floor of the Michigan House on Wednesday by House Clerk Gary Randall (left). She was joined by her husband, Jim DeBoer (center), as she placed her hand on the Bible to take her ceremonial oath of office.

“It’s an honor to continue serving the people of Holland – and to begin serving even more citizens in surrounding townships – in this new capacity,” said the former Holland mayor. “My staff and I are hitting the ground running, serving constituents and developing legislation to make our state an even better place for families, students, workers and seniors.”

The legislator was also appointed to serve on key House appropriations committees this week. She will serve as the Republican vice chair of the School Aid and Michigan Department of Education Subcommittee. She was also appointed to sit on the subcommittees on Higher Education and Community Colleges, Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, and Department of Insurance and Financial Services.

Rep. DeBoer represents the people of the new 86th House District, which includes parts of Ottawa and Allegan counties, including the City of Holland, Park Township, Laketown Township and part of Holland Charter Township.

She invites constituents to visit her state website or email NancyDeBoer@House.MI.gov to subscribe to her monthly newsletter to stay up to date on her activity at the capital.
