This December marks the end of my first term as your State Representative for the 95th District. It is an honor to work for the people of Midland and Gladwin Counties and I am looking forward to continuing to serve you for another two years.
Serving in the legislature involves a lot of both offense and defense and the last two years have involved a lot of defense. From energy policies I believe to be harmful, to the repeal of the Right to Work to budgets filled with misplace priorities.
Despite this, I was able to deliver badly need flood mitigation money for Mid-Michigan and my office was able to serve thousands of 95th District residents. We answered 4,700 plus calls, emails and letters, helped over 300 constituents resolve issues with state departments, held 48 office hours in Midland and Gladwin Counties and communicated directly with constituents over 64,000 times. Thank you to everyone who reached out or attended office hours this term, I hope you continue to do so in 2025!
Speaking of 2025, I am looking forward to the transition to the new term and the election of a new Speaker. Under Democratic Leadership the House of Representatives left the people of Michigan behind, making life more expensive and less secure for Michiganders. The new Republican leadership next term will focus the House on ten core priorities,
- Making Michigan more affordable
- Preparing all our kids for the future
- Demanding accountable and effective government
- Building safer communities
- Unleashing affordable and reliable clean energy
- Attracting high paying careers for the future
- Strengthening and empowering our communities
- Prioritizing mental health, addiction and healthcare access
- Growing our economy
- Securing Michigan’s future for all generations
I am excited to be a part of the new majority moving forward next year and I am eager to get to work delivering these priorities for Michiganders across the state and especially in Mid-Michigan.
I hope you all have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Bill
