Putting Michigan Families First: Our 2026 Common-Sense Agenda
RELEASE|January 8, 2026

When I talk to neighbors back home or folks at the grocery store, the message is always the same: everything is too expensive. From the checkout lane to your property tax bill, Michigan families are being squeezed by a Lansing bureaucracy that has lost touch with the reality of the kitchen table.

As we kick off 2026, I’m proud of what we’ve already accomplished. We stood our ground and successfully delivered on a promise to protect your paycheck, ensuring there is no state tax on tips, overtime, or Social Security. This was a massive win for workers and seniors, but while it’s a great start, our work to make Michigan affordable is far from finished.

The next pillar of our agenda is permanent, transformative property tax reform. We’re championing a “Next Proposal A” to provide the relief homeowners desperately need. It’s time government stop punishing people for the simple dream of owning a home.

However, we can’t provide real relief without fiscal discipline—something that has been sorely lacking in Lansing. Under Governor Whitmer, state spending has skyrocketed by a staggering 47%. This record-breaking spending spree has left taxpayers wondering where all that money is actually going while their own budgets are stretched to the limit. While you’re forced to make tough choices at home to balance your checkbook, Lansing has refused to live within its means, treating your tax dollars like an unlimited credit card.

Michigan families know what it means to work hard for every dime and to live within a budget. It’s time Lansing did the same. The Republican 2026 agenda is about common sense and ensuring every Michigander can actually afford to build their lives right here in our great state.
